Back Under African Skies – African Safari – Now Postponed till 2023

UPDATE – This trip has now been postponed till April 2023, pending resumption of international travel. Although this is a little disappointing, we have no alternative. The extra wait will be well worth it.

In 2012 the Ghostriders travelled to Africa to completeone of our most memorable overseas adventures. Over a period of four weeks we travelled extensively in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The scenery and wildlife was breathtaking. In 2021 I plan to return to Africa to complete an even better extended trip. I am now looking for a small number of people to share this adventure with me.

The trip will take place in April 2021 and will begin in beautiful Capetown, where we will have the chance to climb to the summit of Table Mountain. We will also take a boat trip to nearby Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spend all those years in prison. Another highlight of this region will be a journey to the famous Cape of Good Hope.

While in South Africa we will spend a whole day cycling the winelands region of Stellenbosch. We will then start to head northwards in our special safari vehicle to the Namaqualand Region, before reaching the spectacular Fish River Canyon.

As we enter the beautiful land of Namibia we will have the chance to climb the highest sand dunes on earth (and then run back down to the bottom). The Sossusvlei and Deadvlei will be highlights that you will never forget.

Our journey continues to the fascinating waterfront city of Swakupmund and the so called Skeleton Coast (made famous in the novels by Wilbur Smith). Next stop will be the towering mountains of the Spitzkoppe, before we stop for some wildlife watching in the Etosha National Park. You will probably hear the lions roaring in the night, but the variety of other animals is never ending. Each day brings its own surprises.

From there we reach the Okavango River, home to hippos and crocodiles. Our special campsite will make sure we feel right at home in the jungle. We then travel the Caprivi Strip to the Kwando River and then on to the lovely Chobe National Park. If the sight of dozens of elephants drinking by the water’s edge doesn’t send a tingle up your spine, then nothing will.

The next highlight is the town of Livingstone and the famous Victoria Falls – one of the greatest waterfalls on Earth. You might even like to take a bungee jump ! Then it’s on to the Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana. The sunset here will be a photographer’s dream.

We then move on for two days in the Tuli Wilderness Camp in Botswana. If you want to whet your appetite, then read the “First Ladies Detective Agency” books.

Our safari will finish at the twin cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg. You will have the chance to take a tour through the Soweto township. Our flight back to Australia will depart from here.

Spaces in this trip are very limited (between 12 to 16 people). All details are now available and I am now accepting applications. If you would like to see the full costings, itinerary and inclusions, contact me now.
