UPDATE – We now have 16 participants in this trip and applications are now CLOSED
In 2010 the Ghostriders travelled to South America for an unforgettable adventure in Peru, Argentina and Uruguay. When that trip ended we all vowed that we would return someday to do it all over again. That was now 7 years ago and the time has come to put out the call for adventurers to join us on our second South America Adventure in 2018.
The trip will include approximately 22 days in Peru, followed by an optional extension trip to Argentina and Uruguay. While in Peru we will have the chance to explore the coastal city of Lima before flying inland to the magical city of Cusco – the city of the Incas. There we will begin an amazing series of adventures involving cycling, trekking and sightseeing in some of the most incredible places on this planet. Some of the major highlights will include several spectacular downhill rides down the Andes, riding across the high plateaus at around 5000 metres ASL, trekking to Machu Picchu along the Inca Trail, exploring the Inca ruins at Cusco, Alontaytambo and other locations, watching the Condors soar at Colca Canyon, sailing on Lake Titicaca, visiting Puno and Arequipa, and so on.
When we complete the Peru section in Arequipa we will have the option to continue our adventure by flying over the Atacama Desert to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. There we will have several days to explore this beautiful city, including a visit to the Recoleta Cemetery (the final resting place of Evita Peron where crowds still gather daily at her mausoleum), dance the tango at La Boca, and stand on the balcony of the Casa Rosada. A short high speed ferry ride across the River Plate will take us to nearby Uruguay and the city of Colonia del Sacramento (the oldest city in South America). If all that isn’t amazing enough you still have the final highlight of the return flight back to Australia which actually flies over the Antarctic ice flows !
