O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail

View a larger map

This is a secluded but beautiful ride along the O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail in the Yarra Valley. The ride starts at Launching Place Pub and heads up Don Rd to intersect the trail about 4.5 km from Launching Place. There is an initial steep climb of about 200m to get to the trail itself, but once you are on the trail the gradient is very flat. The condition of the trail can be quite damp and slippery in wet weather so a mountain bike with deep tread tyres is preferred. The trail winds through glorious forest scenery and offers some fantastic views down across the Yarra Valley. You can leave the trail at Warburton East and then follow the Warburton Hwy and the Warburton Trail back to the start.

Total distance: about 48 km
