A New France Ride for 2026 – register your interest now
There is no doubt that cycling in France is absolutely magical. The unique combination of quiet backroads and bike paths, history, scenery, culture and food is impossible to beat.
The Ghostriders have previously completed many rides in various places in France. In 2026 we plan to return to this amazing country to ride the most famous extended bike route of them all.
The Loire a Velo follows the iconic Loire River from Nevers to the Atlantic Coastline. Part of the ride passes through the famous Chateaux Region of France, home to dozens of majestic castles.
Although we have ridden this path several times previously (most recently in 2019), this one will be different. This time we will be riding at a more sedate pace and including much more time along the way to enjoy and explore the local attractions. In the past we have often talked about how good it would be to have more spare time along the way. This time we will have that free time. Of course, if you wish to ride extra on those “free days” that is up to you.
The ride itself will take around 4 weeks and will include use of quality ebikes, all accommodation, luggage transfer and most meals. The ride will take place in September 2026, although the final dates are yet to be determined.
We also plan to keep the group size down to a modest number, probably around 12 per group.
If you have dreamt about having a cycling adventure of a lifetime, this is your chance.
Already it is looking like we will need to form two or three groups, and these are likely to fill fast. If you are interested in joining this trip, you need to register that interest now. You are not committing to join the trip, just asking to be kept informed.
UPDATE – 20th Jan 2025. Since announcing this trip 2 weeks ago, I have already received 50 serious expressions of interest. That is a record response and pretty much guarantees the ride will go ahead, most likely with multiple groups.
