After a final brutal climb and an exhilarating descent we have all safely made it to Florence.

Our peloton is restored to full size after a minor modification to one of the bikes with a hack saw.

This was the longest day of our ride so far and we found ourselves losing a rider and suffering our first puncture. Apart from that it was a fantastic day’s ride.

The route continues along the famous River Po through Tuscany and onto our next night’s resting place at Commachio.

Today we rode from Chioggia to Adra, the headwind began and my bike developed a tick. Apart from that the day was perfect.

After our preliminary time in Rome and Venice we finally get started on our first ride. After a few small difficulties, we successfully all made it to Chioggia.

On our final full day in Venice I am reminded about what the true essence of travel is really all about. Tomorrow our Italy ride gets underway.
