This is a challenging road ride that we have conducted each year for the past several years. The ride starts in Yarra Junction (meet at the car park near the Aquatic Centre) in time for a start at 10 am sharp. The ride then follows the road to Powelltown, then over the Bump to Noojee. That is where the riders will have lunch before returning along the same route.
The ride is around 80 km in total and suited to experienced riders with road bikes. It is important that all riders are prepared to stay together for the entire ride to Noojee and back. There is no mobile coverage for much of the route and riders need to be able to look after each other in the event of any mechanical or health problems along the way. In the past we have several episodes where a rider has punctured or had a mechanical issue, only to be left behind by those who have bolted off in the distance.
Following discussions on our ride on Thursday, the start time for this ride has been brought forward to 9 am at Yarra Junction. The ride coordinator will be Karlo Lavicka. Anyone wanting to join the ride should now contact Karlo for details.
