2026 Nevers Again – French Cycling Adventure – Last Chance to Join
The itineraries for both the main ride and the prologue ride have now been finalised. Since releasing these details just a month ago, no less than 60 spots have now been booked. This means that we are rapidly nearing the time when I will declare that applications are now closed.
This adventure will easily be the biggest cycling trip we have ever put together. That is both exciting and daunting in equal measure.
There are two main ride options to choose from. The first part is a 10 day prologue ride along the Canal du Nivernais in Burgundy. This ride starts in Joigny and finishes in Nevers. That is where the main ride starts. The main ride (aka “Nevers Again”) will start at Nevers and then follow the full length of the famous “Loire a Velo” cycle route along the Loire to the Atlantic Coast. This section will take 27 days.
It is worth noting that it will not just be about the cycling. We want the participants to have time to experience real French life along the way. That is why we have allocated one free day to every two cycling days. The pace will be relaxed and every rider will be provided with an electric bike. Accommodation will be in amazing hotels and most meals are also included. Your luggage is transported for you each day, so all you have to do is ride your bike and savour the scenes along the way.
If it is not possible to do the full length of the Loire ride, it is possible to do a section. This could be the first section from Nevers to Blois, or from Blois to the Atlantic. This could be of interest for anyone who wishes to reduce the commitment of time and money.
As far as the ride is concerned, the plan is to form three groups, with each group following the same itinerary, but departing two days apart. The first will start in Joigny on the 29th August 2026, the second group will start on the 31st August and the final group on the 2nd September. Group sizes will be kept to a maximum of 16 participants.
This will almost certainly be the last epic ride we will do in France, so the opportunity to take part in a ride of this nature is unlikely to happen again. If you would like more details, please contact me on 0419 106324.
