The Ghostriders are now on the last leg of their epic ride along the Loire and have now arrived at Nantes, the 6th largest city in France. It was very exciting to be reunited with David and Carol after Carol’s accident in Angers.

On the ride from Montjean to Champtoceaux we picnic on the side of the river and one member get particularly well fed.

The Ghostriders leave the large town of Angers behind (along with one of their riders who is still in the Angers Hospital) and head for the lovely quiet hamlet of Montjean.

On the longest day of the Loire ride things don’t go exactly to plan and, late in the day, an accident in a hotel shower results in an ambulance trip for one of our riders.

The Ghostriders nearly leave a rider behind, locked in a toilet. We also explore the intriguing world of the Troglodytes.

The pressure must have been starting to tell on me as my health and mental state start to deteriorate markedly. Fortunately I was still alert enough to pull off some brilliant riding strategies to avoid getting drenched in the rain.

With the sun now shining brightly overhead, our spirits are now sky high as we continue our way to the Atlantic. Along the way we are surrounded by Gypsies, visit the famed gardens at Villandry, climb a big hill and dine at a Michelin Restaurant.

The Ghostriders somehow manage to self destruct within a few minutes of leaving Amboise when the women all become lost while trying to ride through a Sunday market.

Our our first free day the two groups combine for a memorable dinner at Lion d’Or restaurant in Amboise. The weather also finally improves and the sun breaks through.
